1000 Words

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then these pictures of our 2009 "Border Town Day" experience should do the job!

Kelsey's class of 1999

This wins for "most ridiculous float" in my book.

My favorite part was the dress up bike contest. So cute!

Reunion (part 2)

So I was wrong. Apparently attending a 10 year reunion in Farwell is not a big deal. Nobody dressed up-except me. We met everyone Friday night at a bar for dinner and drinks. It was really cool to see how close they all were and hear them talk about all the pranks they tried to pull and bring up old memories. Kelsey graduated with less than 30 kids so of course they really knew each other well. Mia was unable to sleep with all the loud music so I took her home early and let Kelsey party with his old friends. The next morning we attended "Border Town Days". The parade started at 11 and then there was a town BBQ on the courthouse grounds. Pictures of the whole event will be posted soon.

Reunions

Today we will travel to Farwell with a different purpose than normal. It is Kelsey's 10 year high school reunion. I have always heard about people really trying to improve themselves before one of these events in efforts to impress the people you grew up with. Kelsey on the other hand, could honestly care less. I washed all of his clothes yesterday so he could pick out something nice to wear to the weekend long event. I even bought him three new shirts as possibilities. So when I asked him what he was going to wear, he replied "I don't ever plan that stuff. Probably a polo shirt and shorts." Seriously. You know every girl there has shopped for and planned this weekends apparel down to matching toe polish and yet I'll be lucky if my husband shaves his face for it. So then I asked, "Well what should I wear?" And that is when I began to understand men. "Something sexy." Umm hmm. So as long as I look good-we look good.

Great Grandparent Visit

The second weekend of July, Kelsey and I took a trip to Austin to visit Ashley and Justin. On the way back, we visited my dad's parents in Lubbock and saw my Aunt Gale. This was when the monumental first crawl happened!

Mia Tortilla at 7 months

Everyone says it but I'm now a believer...it just gets better! Everyday she gets cuter, sillier, funnier, and makes me smile more. And I am not laughing by myself anymore- Mia chuckles and laughs. She can say Da-da but doesn't really know the meaning yet. She reaches out for people and puts a huge smile on her face when she sees someone looking at her. This past Monday I was explaining to my grandmother and Aunt Gale how she revs her engine but doesn't go anywhere and I swear Mia looked at me and then crawled a couple feet for the first time! It was crazy and she has been crawling ever since. She loves to play with toys and is fascinated with all dogs. Yeeaah she is just precious!

Introduction to Solids 101

Needless to say, things can get messy fast! Mia is not a fan of the rice, but really likes sweet potatos, carrots, and avocado so far.

4th of July

For the second year in a row, Erin and Chase joined us at the lake to celebrate the 4th of July. Seis ate the chicken before it hit the grill and we thought we were going to starve considering the closest grocery store is 30 miles away. However, some of Kelsey's friends came over and kindly gave us some brisket. The next night, Kelsey wanted us to have dinner on top of a hill to watch the fireworks. So with a sleeping baby and plates full of food, we got into the truck and parked at the viewing spot. Unfortunately, we missed the entire show that the dock put on-but we saw plenty of backyard displays. Mia cried the whole time and I sat in the car with her. I can't say we will be returning to the hill next year, but it was a fun night.
