April

We spent the first weekend of April in Ruidoso with Erin and Chase. Compared to most it was a very relaxing weekend with a lot of down time. Mainly because Erin didn't feel good and the guys left us for the golf course. Erin and Chase had a wedding to attend and Kelsey and I went out to dinner. We have noticed that when hostesses see a car seat, they stick you in the way back of the restaurant near the ice machine and bathrooms. What is up with that? They must not know what an angel we have. Mia, at this point, sleeps every time we go out to eat- it's wonderful! Anyhow, that weekend was spent shopping, eating, watching TV, and in the hot tub. This is a picture of dad and Mia shopping: We spent Easter weekend in Houston with my in laws and my sister in law's family. We got in late Friday and had pizza at their house. Saturday morning, my sister Ashley drove in from Sugar Land to have breakfast with us and do a little shopping. Then Kelsey and I headed back over to the Mossman's house for Keelin's first birthday party. Kelsey and I had lunch with a couple who had a baby girl just younger than Mia. It was fun to talk about our restless nights and which socks actually stay on. Come to find out, the dad was a former bachelor...as in ABC's The Bachelor! Yes- crazy I know! Funny part- I totally watched that season with my old roomie Taryn and remembered him. Didn't recognize him from the show, but I did recognize him. That night we went to a really nice restaurant and then called it a night. Or should I say Mia called it a night. It was the first time she didn't wake up for a feeding or pacifier and she was still asleep at 6:30 when I was forced to wake her up. It made it that much easier to praise Jesus that morning :) We attended Easter service and then went back to the Mossman's for a very formal lunch. The precious cutie holding Mia is her cousin Alexis. We left Houston around
five and flew to Midland. We stayed with Kelsey's aunt and uncle and got to visit with his cousins. Monday morning, we got back to Amarillo and I worked half a day.

The third weekend of April, Kelsey and I went out to the "Country Barn" with Sharon and Daniel. They just found out that Sharon is pregnant and due around Mia's 1st b-day! We are so excited for them and I am really glad that I will have someone to talk babies with! After dinner, we went to Marble Slab and indulged ourselves with the best ice cream in the world. Saturday, we cleaned house and Seis even got a bath! Our awesome babysitter Lauren came over at 6, and Kelsey and I went to an engagement party for my cousin Lauren and her fiance Ryan in Amarillo. The host made 36 pizzas in a brick oven and they were delicious. It was the first time Kelsey and I were at a party where everyone else had kids and a babysitter to take home at the end of the night! When we got home, we ate the yummy brownies that Lauren made and watched Mia play with her toes as she was sleeping in her crib. Toes have really fascinated her lately. Pam bought her a play mat with toys that dangle down and she loves lying under in and playing with her toes. As you can see:

February/March

Blogging takes time that I just don't have! My original plan was to blog about a whole month until I caught up to date and then I would try to blog 2 or 3 times a week on a regular basis. Well if you didn't know, new moms-especially working ones- have NO time to do unnecessary things. SOOOO I'll fill in the gaps...Mia is now 4 months old and still a huge joy in our life, even though she does not sleep through the night. She survived RSV and her first scary trip to the hospital with x-rays and lab work. Did I mention that Kelsey was in Mexico when all of this went down? Anyhow, she also had her first irritating ear infection and I got to give her loads of medicine and breathing treatments :) Fun times for everyone. I took her last week for her 4 month appointment and she is all better. She weighed in at 13.9 pounds and 25 1/2 inches. I could have sworn she was at least 15 pounds. The week before spring break and the week of spring break I got to stay home with her and I enjoyed it more than my maternity leave. Mainly because it was a lot of down time and her personality had really come out. She started smiling and making cute noises. Plus, once school started it has all been a whirlwind of activity. I have never felt so busy in all my life. I start thinking, what can I get done in five minutes while she is content in her swing? Having routines has always helped me. I am a total routine person and Kelsey is so far from routine. I thought I had Mia on a schedule for a little while, but no. She is currently showing her dad's personality. Every day has to be just a little different from the last. Her sleep schedule for example, the only thing I can predict is that I will be up for a feeding at least twice a night. She decides the random hours though. Speaking of nighttime feedings, Kelsey joined in on the fun last week (yes, after 4 months of doing it alone) and is learning how lack of sleep can really turn a nice person into a crazy one. I'm just gad we are both crazy now. I tried explaining to a man I teach with, who is expecting this summer, that my entire eye sockets feel bruised from lack of stress and my hair is falling out in unbelievable amounts. Somehow, he is still excited. Ahhh just kidding, babies make it all worth it. Plus, sleep is for losers.
